Joined HLF in 1996 as Deputy Director of Lottery, later becoming Deputy Director of Operations.
Graduated from London University in History and History of Art. MA in Architectural History from the Courtauld Institute, followed by a year at the Courtauld Gallery.
Joined English Heritage and later Essex County Council as an historic buildings advisor. Awarded Postgraduate Diplomas in Management and more recently in the Conservation of Historic Gardens and Landscapes (Architectural Association). Former Chair of Stoke Newington Conservation Area Advisory Committee.
Member of the Institute of Historic Buildings Conservation and Council Member of the Ancient Monuments Society.
